The Hill Climb is traditionally the finale to the club’s Wine Bar sponsored handicap series and despite the fact that it’s all uphill (bar a couple of hundred metres around the Meeting House) the turnout is always remarkably high. This year we had twenty seven runners, a record for a club handicap, and welcoming though this was I fear it also reflected quite badly on runners’ IQ levels; either that or we’re all essentially masochists at heart. At least it’s comforting to know that it’s not just Larne AC members whose mental capacity and/or sexual preferences are questionable for we were joined on the night by a number of guest runners.
